i wanna know what some of you all think...

aight so for some people the 90's seems like "new stuff". but for people my age thats what i grew up with.. even though i still listen to the stuff before that.  Anyways even the people who think the 90's hip hop isn't "old school" i wanna know if you guys still think its tight.

cause from my point of view even if it aint old school, it still was at least real hip hop, cause like S.O.S. said hip hop now is dead.

I think like you Medley. REAL HIP HOP and REAL OLDSCHOOL died in the early 90s.


But I prefer 90s " hip hop " than the " commercial rap " of today. 80s hip hop is better but 90s hip hop is not bad. Do you see  ? Real oldschool hip hop is Grandmaster flash, Kurtis blow,


D- nice, KRS-one, Run-D.M.C ... 90s hip hop is not oldschool, it's middle school ( for me )

I agree-Hip-Hop was on it;s last legs in the early 90's-There was still a lot of good stuff, though....

I'll put it like this.. if you were'nt walking out the house with shell top adidas/pumas w/fat laces, british walkers/ballys, terry cloth kangol, numerous gold chains around your neck, Cazals on your eyes, saying "thats the joint","word up", "oh dip", walking down the street always looking down to make sure your new kicks were tight and no scuff marks on them, lets face it was not  hip hop you were listening to....... feel me.....Smooov

When the Boom Box left, Hip hop went with it..Cause let's face it, I couldn't see blasting that 90's stuff through my JVC..anybody feel me? I know you do smoov...L.L said it best, I can't live with out my radio.. He Meant hip-hop can't live. You ever tried getting hip hop to blast through an I-POD? That's a JOKE!! Well look around you.. What do you see?? OLDSCHOOL!!! and when you come in trying to start a battle in here, no offence, But you start it , you get caught up in it...and that's what a newbie or rookie would do..haven't you been listening to the other boards and the convo's about the battles that took place and why? Mainly Something Dumb, like he said , he said crap....But I know it's all good wit you so I still have to rag you though..That's what us OLE APPLES do..We try to school you yougins the best way we can.. and for the record i don't think i know oldschool I KNOW OLDSCHOOL!!! you better ask somebody. I ain't no youngin and I go back like hopschotch and hot combs so i I KNOW my stuff...You don't beleive me ... Bring it.....

I don't understand all you want to say, sorry. But I didn't want to injure you. Sorry if you take it like this, I don't believe that you know everything but, like you say in all your sentences, you're oldschool, you must 35 or 40 so it's normal that you have some knowledge, you lived the 80s and the 90s. I think I'm good for my age, I know you want to be tought with me because you think I have nothing to do in the oldschool community but I'm here and you can't change it. In a community, there are, Olds and newbies, I'm the best newbie on this  website. I do my best for to learn oldschool but I don't like when you say your the best because it is wrong.

I don't think he got the joke S.O.S......but let him live and learn. he should learn something here. We are not against each other algo. We just here to share one common topic. Ol skool music, and the hip hop culture(no battles) the only thing that we battle on is "finish the rhyme" ,and with my abundance of knowledge of ol skool I still cant get them all correct.  I'm still learning a bit from these guys also. you have to understand there still are ol skool records that I haven't even heard yet. I live on Long island, and when I was younger if you didn't live in the tri state area your record didn't get played on the radio. You may have heard records that are hitting in france that we know nothing about. I remember back in the day when a record came out up in New York it took weeks for it to get down south, and out west..and vice versa. So you may know things we dont. We are all here to share our knowledge of the music we appreciate..So just chill, sit back, and roll with us....and remember  HIP HOP BEFORE HIP POP......Smooov

Smoov, you said a mouth full. I also grew up on L.I and you're so right, my peepes in the city would make fun of us because we hd a yard(grass) and the music would take a minute to get to us and if you didn't know somebody in the city, you got slept on.. But i've been trying to (old)school the fella and he just ain't gettin it.. I hope he got something out of what you just layed down for him.. i tried to tell him that we don't battle(as if he could even flow) here and that we just roll with each other, but he wasn't listening.. Just like a newbie..I think He thinks we got to be GURU'S over night....Maybe now he'll get it.. S.O.S, GOOD ONE!!! and good dodging me on the mixtape.. you and UnEq..

I feel that true old skool in regards to hip hop is the 80's but then if your going to be really fussy the 70's would make you an original old skool member of the posse. In regards to the 90's looking back and comparing it with the commercial trash of today I feel it deserves recognition as late old skool either way anyone involved in the days where hip hop was not commercial to me are old skool.


Big up to ya 70's, 80's or 90's your all apart of great hip hop not the crap out now.

If you think that the 70's were the best, or the 80's were the dopest, or the 90's rocked hardest, remember, it's what YOU think...Just because someone doesn't agree with you  doesn't make them dumb.


The old school way of handling beef was always to out-mix, out-rhyme, out-dance, or in this case , out-argue someone. Calling names and otherwise attacking other readers on this site is indicative of an attitude that seems more new school than old......

All I have to say is 3 things...


1) I'm actually right there with you... I think that hip hop was at it's peak from like 1988-1995. ...and that's MY opinion....


2) But like SOS said in his own words, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. How are you going to tell people what they should or should not like better than the other? Or that their post is irreverent???? there was nothing disrespectful about what he said.. He was just voicing his opinion. early old school hip hop and 90's hip hop had 2 totally different sounds. if he likes early hip hop better, than that's his thing... Period.


3) "White Boy".... Hmmm... that alone is wrong in so many different ways... Nevermind the racial thoughts behind it.... I just wanna let you know that Algoflash is far from a white boy, so your statement is just all around wrong, brah... Do a little more research next time you want to do some name calling.

Early to mid-90's Hip Hop was the best of the 90's (Funk Ya' Head Up, Mecca & the Soul Brother, Bacdafucup, Enta Da Stage,etc)..  IMO With some hot shit dropped in the late 90's as well (Reasonable Doubt, Capital Punishment, Heist of the Century, Ironman,etc)...  I'm a late 80's-mid 90's Hip Hop head primarily...
