I've gotten lazy when it comes to newer stuff - as far as checking for it or buying it - but I do like:

-People Under The Stairs

-Aesop Rock

Honestly, though, ever since they cracked down on sampling, I haven't felt like checking for most hip-hop - it's become way too synthetic on the mainstream end of things and the underground is too laid back and jazzy...there doesn't seem to be that happy median anymore.

Honestly, stay lazy because your not missing much. These artist and producers to me are the only ones in my opinion that come close resembling old school when it was beats and ryhmes.

Yeah, I feel ya on the production side...

The ones you mentioned most definitely have that old school feel...which is the main reason I like PUTS because of Thes One's production - dude strives for that sound with his style and equipment.

I like Mighty Mi's (High and Mighty) production, too - got a really nice, gritty feel to it.

Cosign on that one, UnEq...

But at the same time, I'm funny when it comes to Doom - for some reason, I only like to hear Doom over Doom beats. I wasn't feelin' that DangerDoom thing or any of his other collabs (except King Gheedorah - that joint was nasty! - then again, I think he banged pads on that one, too.)

No doubt. But at first I was feeling MF Doom, but I really sat down and listen to his beat production and ended up liking it. But of course we got give credit because he is from old school (KMD early ninteys but still old school).

I feel Talib Kweli, Slum Village and Common. Being on the west coast I have to give it up to E-40 (not really new school) although I'm not into the whole thizzle movement (RIP MacDre).
