Since no one ever replied to my "definition of old school" post, I'll ask the question again-What was the first rap remake? Who was the original artist? Who did the remake?
One that I'm thinking of right now is "Force MD's Meet the Fat Boys"... that dates back before the Slick Rick and Al B Sure track... But I'm sure that's still not the first time...
awe man! "Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of the Force MD's, and how they met the fat boys, on the Staten Island Fairy...." Damn, I haven't heard that one since it came out!!!
Nah, he meant what rapper or rap group was the first to remake another rap song. The answer is Run DMC's "Hard Times" which was originally done by Kurtis Blow.
Then we started talking about the first Hip Hop/R&B collaberation. Not the first time a hip hop artist sampled an R&B track, but the first time a hip hop and r&b artist actually worked together on a track.
