Since no one ever replied to my "definition of old school" post, I'll ask the question again-What was the first rap remake? Who was the original artist? Who did the remake?

A hip-hop remake of a hip-hop song.

Is it a remake of a song from another genre? Or a hip hop remake of another hip hop track?

I remember the first post, but there's a reason I didn't answer... (It's cause I don't know - lol)

But I'm going to take a stab at this one anyway...

Snoop's version of La Di Da Di?

(I'm guessing DJ Odyssey doesn't make it THAT easy)

here's a hint-It was done by a group that featured "the son of Kurtis Blow".

They (I'm thinking the obvious group) did a hip hop remake of another hip hop track?

One that I'm thinking of right now is "Force MD's Meet the Fat Boys"... that dates back before the Slick Rick and Al B Sure track... But I'm sure that's still not the first time...

I thought the first rap remake was when the sugarhill gang used "Chic's" "Good Times" in "Rappers Delight"....

Nah, he meant what rapper or rap group was the first to remake another rap song. The answer is Run DMC's "Hard Times" which was originally done by Kurtis Blow.

Then we started talking about the first Hip Hop/R&B collaberation. Not the first time a hip hop artist sampled an R&B track, but the first time a hip hop and r&b artist actually worked together on a track.
