O.K., by the title, i bet y'all think that I'm posting about Algo @ Chuckie

For real though, I kinda am...

I was reading one of their "discussions" earlier (it can be enjoyed at Looking For A Track/newcomer to hip hop, need help) Anyway, Chuckie & Algo were talking about "sharing" old school..Well, I don't know if it's mine to share, but....

Anyhow, Chuckie revisited the old, we were there, we lived it, you just like it theme, and, although I guess that technically, he does have a point, I really don't see what the big deal is...I mean, think about it, are there enough of us "legitimate" ol' schoolers to justify all of these cool compilations and re-issues that are coming out these days? Remember, it's all about the MUSIC, and to a lesser, and lesser extent, the culture.....Sure, I love talking about all of the things that I've seen, done, and heard, but the most I do knowadays is watch my old movies, listen to my old albums, go to a show when I can, and visit this site.. I don't even own a pair of pumas or Shell Toes....But I bet Algo does....

However, I went of track; What I meant to adress was the difference between "liking" and "living" old school.

My son just went to College, and he Hates old school. Why? because it sucks(to him)and because I am always quick to gleefully point out any old school sample in his "new" music..He feels that old school lyrics are "too symplistic"..And, actually, they really are..

Now, at this point let me remind you all that I come from the OOOOLd School-I consider ANYTHING after RUN-DMC as new-What's my point? Anyone who has heard "twista", Jay-Z, Rakim, etc., may find it hard to understand how I can think that Roxanne Shante (you KNOW I had to get her in here) or Busy Bee were any good. I mean, when you think about it, Busy Bee had ,what?-3 rhymes? BUT HE WAS THE CHIEF ROCKA BUSY BEE!!!!! If you are not as old as I am, you probably don't remember how young, dynamic, and flat out RAW LL.ool Jay was when he hit the scene...It's like comparing a Model-T to a Bently-There IS NO COMPARISON!!!!!

A Bently is better in every way.......Exept there will always be some old coot (like me) who will swear up and down that "they don't make "em like they used to" Well, they don't, and that can be good, or bad, depending on your viewpoint..............

So, anybody that want's to know about, talk about, reminence about, or even argue about old school, hit me up.PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
