Wassup, everybody! I just got back in town from NYC.
I worked the Ludacris show.....
First of all, I didn't realize that the cat was 5 albums deep....Overall, it was a pretty hot show-The crowd was hyped, the music was loud, and Ludacris had stage presence, but.....
But what? One thing that I always have a problem with is when D.J.'s use an Instant Replay machine(Instant replay is a device that has a bunch of pads/triggers on it, each one containing a sample, loop or track, that plays as soon as you hit the buttons)
Let me say this; Both Bobby Valentino and Ludachris's dj's actually did scratch (ludas dj even used vinal, and had a good, old fashioned "dj break" in the set), so I'm NOT dissing, I'm just saying that I miss "2 turntables and a microphone".
All in all, I must say, there was a lot of positive energy in the room, and if I had'nt been at sound check, all of the "spontaneous" things that were actually rehearsed would have fooled me, just like they fooled the crowd. I already knew that Pharrel was gonna show up, but they really got me when Nas walked out on stage....Yo, I have always felt Nas, and while everybody else was sportin' platinum, Nas kept it oldschool by wearing a good old fashioned (although HUGE) gold dope rope....Complete with a King Tut mask-it was pretty hype.
