I was in NYC in the mid 80's and taped a song off the radio (WBLS Rap Attack) of a female rapper - The song had the lyrics in it "new your new you is the place to be cant be no where but NYC" I would love to know who's track it was.

Also im a newbie to this site - Im from Sydney Australia and can not get enough oldschool rap - I love everything about hip hop from breakin' to oldschool graf on subway cars to oldschool rap!

Peace!

Gavo

I think it might be the 3 female rappers at the begining of Beat Street in the debbie D, Shar Rock and Lisa Lee? It was around the same time as King Kut and Marley scratch - Hope that helps.

That sucks cause I have heard the one he is talking about.. but can't remember who it was.  I don't think it was Latifah, but for some reason my mind keeps thinking M.C. Lyte, altho it prolly ain't her either.  Need more info on it to jar my memory.
