Hey all, i first want to say, as a new member, that this radio is awsome. I hadn't had such emotions for a while.
I wanted to know that how is it that todays rap is so bad? I mean, I come from extreme metal influences but i love oldschool rap and when i compare the rap scene from 10 years ago, i just feel very nostalgic even if im only 16. I don't really know lots of rap artists but are there REAL rap artists today, different of all those G-unit or something?
PS: i want to congratulate the creator of this radio who's tastes and work for creating it are excellent.

of course there is plenty of good hip hop today, you have to look beyond radio mtv and bet though. I can't stand when people say hip hop is dead and craziness like that. Here are my top 10 in no particular order of hip hop albums that came out last year, Masta Ace, KRS ONE-Get Right, Nas-Stillmatic, Brand Nubian-Fire In the Hole, De la Soul-The Grind Date, Roots-The Tipping Point, Mos Def-The New Danger, Talib Kweli-Beautiful Struggle, dead prez-Revolutionary but Gangsta and Masta Killa's No Said Date. That's just the tip of the iceberg cause Kanye West, LL Cool J, Ghostface, Twista and a lot of other cats had great albums as well. Wu's Desciples of the 36 Chamber live is a jewel too. While I've only checked out Game, 50 and Geto Boys this year there is plenty to go round on the come up cause I am anxiously awaiting Common to drop the album of his career with Be and I know AZ's Final Call is gonna be on some next ****. I think Lauryn Hill is going to resurface too. Also check out artists like Paris and Immortal Technique who both had albums of the millenium with Revolutionary vol. 2 and Sonic Jihad. Next time someone tells U hip hop is dead, slap em in the face!

Well for one "Gay"=G Unit is not real rap all they do is cry and sing hooks and they had the nerve to diss Ja Rule for the same s*&t there are doing now. Crying about broads and clothes this and car that. It is about what they got so what where is the message in the music except "Shake yo azz girl" and other BS. RAP IS DEAD this s*&t that they play on the radio is a commerical rap matter as well call it pop rap. Back when rap was rap artist was not selling out and doing all the dont's in the game they is why they get way more respect. Then was when it was safe to buy a whole CD and did not get disappointed like now. You have to buy a single or get it bootleg because there is not art in the rap these days. Any time u got lame azz rapper talking about a damn "white tee" the game is dead and all sold out. I would put any old school rapper against the best that surposed to be out. Except NAS is still from the old school. That is a (NAS) real rapper he made Jay Z drop a last piece of trash "Black Album"  and retired like a bum yeah J got money but not the respect, except the pop culture.

it's not that rap is dead, it's just that many of today's rappers are phony.  they need to take all the old school albums and just listen to them for a few days so that they can know what kind of songs to write next.  they need to learn how to make the good music that made old school hip-hop the Golden Age of Hip-Hop.  that's all there is to it.

Current rap is pretty dead,it's JUNK. You know when your getting old is the "new rappers" sample Planet Rock and its something new?!??.Kids these days dont realize.........where is my cane LOL, just trying to keep oldschool alive I guess,,
