aside from basketball what do you guys think are sports where you hear hip hop music at games, see old school and new rappers wearing that sports jersey, or many of the athletes who play the sport promote hip hop?

for instance at cleveland indians games each player who comes up to bat has their own intro song and about 1/3 of the songs are hip hop. so what do you think is a sport that involves hip hop?

SKATEBOARDING - 100% goes hand in hand with hip hop

If there was a sport to be included as one of the elements of hip hop, it would def be skateboarding.

If it wasn't for skating i wouldnt be into hip hop. I used to watch all these old skate videos, mainly 411 and saw what the hell is this amazing music, whern they were dropping shit like Mos Def, the Roots, Pete Rock and Ugly Duckling to name just a few.
Go and watch some OLD Skate videos, nearly every track is dope, if it aint hip hop it will be some other good music, but the tunes are always good!!!

411 used to show the album cover and list all the details for each tarck at the start of each section.n I used to write them down and then go and buy the cd...

They go well together becuase they are so similar in all aspects.

I think skaters and both hip hoppers are in touch with the streets, skaters being out in the city and chillin in the streets all day skating, and hip hoppers being out at night, hitting gigs and clubs, and always knowing whats going on around them.
Also both skaters and hip hoppers are usually wearing similar style of clothing, baggy pants, hats, beanies etc.

its funny cos i meet so many people into hip hop and nearly all of them seem to have sklated when they were younger.

I dont get to skate anymore, due to injuries, ansd time, but i still love the sport, and it seems the same with sio many hip hop heads i meet.

I think Rob Dyrdek ( pro skater, part owner of DC ) used to own a record label, cant remember the name at moment, but there were so mad tracks on there....i will look into this

Anyone else feeling me about the skating and hip hop being very affiliated with eachother, let me know what u think...

I'm feeling ya there, prime! Out of any sport I can think of, you ALWAYS hear hip hop tracks over skating vids - at least in the past 15 years or so.. Before that, it was 90% punk/thrash.

And you're right.. I know a few hip hop heads and DJ's that have a skateboarding background
