And You Don't Stop Incase someone hasn't seen ads for it on VH1 or MTV, VH1 is running a 5 part documentry on the past 30 years of hip hop starting October 4th. - October 8th, 10pm EST. Hip Hop Honors They will also have the Hip Hop Honors on October 12, at 9pm EST. Honorees are: DJ Hollywood, DJ Kool Herc, KRS-One, Public Enemy, Rock Steady Crew, Run DMC, Sugarhill Gang, 2 Pac, the Graffiti Movement. Performering that night will be: Public Enemy, Chic, Sugarhill Gang, Beastie Boys, Nas, Fat Joe, and MC Hammer. Keep checking back to this thread because I'll be posting clips from both programs in here. I've watched 1-4 so far, and now I'm waiting on part 5. I really liked the 1st one - it really got into the history of the hip hop forefathers - Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, Sugar Hill, Cold Crush, and many many others.

The 2nd one got into Run DMC, Beastie Boys, LL, and alot of the artists that helped break hip hop out into the mainstream.

Part 3 touched on gansta rap, NWA, Ice-T, Ice Cube going solo, etc, etc, etc...

Part 4 was about the Rise of Death Row, and Bad Boy - and the fued between Biggie and Tupac. And then their deaths.

Now, I thought the first 2 were great, and the 3rd was ok, but I thought there was alot more going on in the 90's besides gansta rap, and all the violence going on. They did quickly mentioned acts like the Fugees, The Pharcyde, and a couple other artists that were creating hip hop with a non-gangsta vibe... But you know who they didn't mention - AT ALL? A Tribe Called Quest! They were F'N HUGE! Not one word about them. Not even a quick picture or clip! What's up with that? And what about the Jungle Brothers - the ones who helped start that whole vibe?!? De La Soul did have a quick picture of them shown for like half a second...

I know they had to fit 30 years in 5 hours, but hey.. I'm still a little upset.

Well, tomarrow's the conclusion. So maybe they'll sum up the past 30 years, and hopefully we'll see a quick clip or mention of Tribe.
