De La Soul is Dead?
Permalink Closed

I been listening to De La Souls lastest release Impossible Mission. I coped it a few months ago and I think its a good album over all, with some real nice tracks on it. What I don't understand is why don't they get any airplay on the radio and BET. I don't even hear them on the underground shows either. I didn't know it was out until I went to snatch up Kingdom Come and found it in the older bens. It was the same with there last album too. If it wasn't for there Shapelle show appearance, I wouldn't have known it was comming out. I know they've had problems with the label but Damn, can it be that bad? I've been down since Three Feet High so I'll always ride with Plug 1, 2, and 3!

yeah i know what youre sayin.  i listened to their new stuff too and its pretty good, but theyre tryin to revive the old school and unfortunately most rap fans today arent down with the old school style for whatever reason.

Your wright MCMedley. The newer school is all about now. Fans and the record labels forget about the past like Rap is a desposible product. I still think that De La Soul can still sell if they got the proper promotion and DJ support. I like some of the new music but there's not many MC out that have personality or originality. Long live the OldSchool!!!

Honestly, I think they evolved with the times... I don't think they're really reppin' the old school, at least by the sound they have now.. If you compare their latest albums with their early albums, it's hard to believe it's the same group... Don't get me wrong, I love De La - new and old. I have every album, except for Impossible Mission, which I didn't know was out either.. (Thanks K Matic for this post!) I'll be picking that one up shortly!

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in.

I agree. They have evolved over the years. Their ability to keep up with the times and remain original is something only a few can say they've done.  If you love the old and the new De La, you won't be disappointed with this one ghosT.

I like to take a poll on which of their albums is your favorite.
My favorite (funny enough) is "De La Soul is Dead". I played this album to death and back to life again!
